Hi,
Im going to be spending 3/4 weeks traveling in Malaysia in August/September 2011. Ill be crossing the border from Thailand and finishing by flying out of Kuala Lumpur, as im traveling with my fiancee, who does not dive, liveaboards are out of the question.
Im looking for dive sites and operators can offer a good days diving when we stop off and spend a couple of days in one place. I have already been to Borneo and dived Sipadan and will only be returning to Borneo to go to Sepilok and see the Orangutans.
Any advise and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Martin

Hey martin.boy,

There are 3 islands on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia which you can dive during that time. The islands are Redang, Perhentian and Tioman. I have never been to these islands personally but everyone that has been there have been telling me amazing stories about the beaches, diving and snorkeling there. A very close friend of mine goes to Redang annually and she highly recommends Redang Kalong Resort for diving.

Personally, I have dived at Pulau Tenggol which is also on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Pulau Tenggol is a small island with basic amenities. You can stay on the island itself but I don't think there is much to do other than diving and the beach. I stayed with my family at Tanjung Jara Resort on the mainland with boats taking me out to Pulau Tenggol. Your wife will love Tanjung Jara Resort with its massage and Malaysian food cuisine.
