So I'm going to be spending a month in Bangalore and wanted to know if anyone knew of any diving opportunites near by and could give recommendations.

Thanks,
Drew

Your best bet if you're in Bangalore is to travel to Goa. It's not a day trip. As far as I know most of the diving around India is still done around the Andaman/Nicobar Islands or the Maldives. If you're there for your work you might want to try tacking a week extra on your time there and head to one of those places.

Goa is the closest place where you could go diving over a long weekend. There is great clear water diving at Netrani in Karnataka, and I went diving there on the 1st and 2nd of Feb. The vis was about 20m and there were loads of fish...
The vis in Goa is about 4-5 m on average, but theres an interesting shipwreck and a wide variety of fish on the local sites.
There are no diveshops in Netrani, but I got in touch with DiveGoa, who organise dive trips to Netrani from Goa. You can contact their instructor on his cell 09325030109, or check www.divegoa.com
