Greetings. I received my PADI OWD certification while building houses for tsunami refugees in Sri Lanka. The didn't work on Sundays so I had some down time. We (REACH) <dbl U dbl U dot reach4children dot org> are now heading to Haiti to build 9 new homes for an orphanage and would like to know if anyone has any recommendations on the diving groups on the island? We will be bringing in multiple groups under our Voluntour Program starting in June 2009 and would like to accomodate those who wish to take a dive. Donald Stevens

I have never heard of diving in Haiti (or doing anything in Haiti that didn't involve bullet proof cars and compounds), but the neighbouring Dominican Republic has good diving, so I assume the diving in Haiti must be similar. Sorry, not terribly helpful I know.

I have never heard about diving in Haiti, either, but just b/c it's good in DR doesn't mean it will be good in Haiti. Haiti has been pretty much deforested, so soil erosion is going to be a really big issue, and we all know how that can mess up a reef. It's amazing how two different govts have very differently managed that small island's resources.

welcome aboard
