Hi I was wondering if anyone can recommend a Dive Centre in Dahab. I will be going to Egypt in March for around 8 weeks and want to do my PADI Divemaster. Also I would like any details on good, cheap acommodation. I was recomended to look on www.discoverdahab.com. Although, this gives information on safaris in the desert and windsurfing. Does this mean that the diving is better in Sharm el Sheikh? One last thing, Is it safe for a girl to stay in Egypt alone? I hear different stories all the time.
If anyone knows anything about Dahab then please answer as I am a little nervous.

Thanx

BTW.. do not expect fancy accomodations within Dahab though ;)

Dahab (or anywhere in Egypt) is perfectly safe for a single female - go there all the time myself.
Whether the diving in Sharm is better than Dahab is debatable, some of the further away boat dives from Sharm (Ras Mohammed, Tiran) are great, but some of the local reefs aren't. Dahab is all shore diving, less big fish than further south, but great underwater scenery. Dahab is definetely the nicer (and cheaper!) place to stay for a couple of months, unless you like glitzy resorts towns.

For doing your DM, Dahab is great as it will give you plenty of opportunity to assist in courses and guide dives, you may even be able to go out on one of the trips to Tiran/Thistlegorm during your training from Dahab, but of course you will not get a lot of experience handling boat dives.

moreover, diving Dahab usually deeper and better corals formations

Here is another person you might try. He lives in berlin but, does a lot of work in egypt. Holger Stock ( Yogi ) office@psai.de . He is an IT for several agencies and most important he loves to dive. I've made several dives with this guy and always had a good time.
