Costa Maya is the name of the cruise ship pier specially built for cruise ship passengers. They do not tell you anything about outside the walls of this place.

The town of Mahahual which is going to benefit from the cruise ship pier is only a ten minute taxi or bus ride from the pier.

There are a couple of places offering diving and cater to the cruise ships as this is a new developing tourist area. The area does not only cater for the cruise ships but also local tourists. There are 4 places at the moment offering diving.

Maya Palms resort,
Blue Ha Diving. (other wise known as Dreamtime Diving)
Mex Dive
and Bucanero del Caribe.

They will all try to accomodate divers but do not offer this through the cruise ship programs. We cannot afford the exorbitant commissions asked for by the cruises. We all operate independantly. As this is a small place we all help each other as we are all limited with the amount of equipment etc.

Do not think that Costa May is a non diving area, in fact it rivals Cozumel for it's pristine reefs.

We will keep you informed if you ask questions here.

Sounds like you might be down there. This is wonderful news. I just learned my ship will be coming into Costa Maya 12/16/04 instead of Grand Cayman. How do I book dives? Any help would be appreciated.

Send an email to Tanya at Blue Ha. She was very responsive to me when I went diving with them. You won't regret it.

Don't forget to let us know how it went.

I'm hoping that's who I wrote to last night from home. heh I guess I'll find out in a few hours. If not, I'll shoot them a note tomorrow. Can't believe I'm not going to get to do Stingray City. :monster:
