I have dived with both & Treasure Divers & Caribbean Divers in Boca Chica & both were OK though the diving is average. They have an OK wreck site but the diving is far better in Bayahibe to the east if you have the time to get there.

I'll try to make it but am not sure whether my schedule let me do it. In the meantime, any suggestions on hotels in Boca Chica? Nothing like "all included", just a clean reasonably priced place in a reasonably quiet setting not far from dive shops. Do diving operations pick up divers from a hotel, or a beach nearby the hotel.

Calypso Hotel one block back from the strip is OK.

Hotel was nice, clean and had security out side the gates. Do not read any tour books on hotels there. ALL LIES!

the dive shop http://www.tropicalseadivers.com/ right out side the hotel was decent. Not great, but personal service and small decent boats.

We dove here in 2009. Stayed at Hotel Zapata. It is the best choice on the beach. We dove with Tropical Divers which is about 20 steps out the back of the hotel on the beach. No complaints. And the diving's not that bad. See picures below. We also did a day trip to Catalina island and it wasnt much better. The area here is a bit 'sleazy' and not for families. We had an excellent time here and I would go back.

As nipi said above, the diving around Boca Chica is not the best, try to go to Bayahibe if you can, it's about an hour drive, but most of the diving and excursions on the south is done from there.

Vlad, I checked out the dive options in Bayahibe, what about extracurricular activities are they similar to what is available in Boca Chica?

Vlad,

I did not find a price chart in your website? What are prices for a single dive ( I understand they may vary with a destinations). I would bring the gear except for fins that I rather rent. Is a skin enough to dive or I'll need 3-mm?

I think you will find more things to do around Bayahibe then Boca Chica. Speed boats, horse back riding, zip line, safari excursions, buggy rides, just to name a few. Boca Chica is a good location if you want to be close to Santo Domingo and visit the city few times.
Please send email to info@divingdominicanrepublic.com with the exact dates you will be in DR and how many days you want to dive. We specialize in private scuba diving and trips and take bookings on first come first served basis, so we have to check our booking calendar if we have any availability white you are here. We do not have a price list on our website because each package is customized based on what our clients want.
