Diving from Makassar?

I tried to find a dive op in makassar that could let me go diving at the west of Makassar ( spermonde ) and especially in kaoposang; but i couldn t get in touch with anyone.

Do uyo know someone? it would be ok to make a live aboard around there, but same thing: i find a boat that could maybe do it but maybe (again) for 2 days

Not at all sure about diving from Makassar. There is diving on the South East coast around Bira, although I am not sure it is much good.

Caraka Travel are probably the largest tour operator in Makassar. They don't specialise in diving - but they would know. They are Dutch-run. Obviously they would be wanting to sell you a tour - but on the other hand, based in Makassar, their prices may well be competitive. We found them efficient, friendly, their vehicles were spotless (aircon etc)

An alternative approach, which might actually be better, is to contact one of the Manado-based tour ops. They are more involved in diving trips and may offer some service and advice for diving in South Sulawesi.

To be precise; i was looking for the west part: the spermonde around Kapoposang. east theres is some operation and dive cruise on a regular basis

Yes, please keep us posted. Will be going to Sulawesi again and liked what we saw of the south last year. If there's diving around Makassar that would be brilliant to fit with an on-land tour as well.

dove kapoposang 3-4 years ago. If you are into just the diving, these sites are not very spectacular. However if you are into relaxing on the beach, fishing, diving and just enjoying your time, then this place might be perfect for you.
Last time i was there, we had a great time, always fresh fishes and coconuts, just lazying on the beach after diving.

You could go with Makassar Diving Club. I don't know their email address, cause we contact directly thru phone with the manager of the resort, a friend of ours.

Hopefully this can lead you into MDC (Makassar Diving Club), maybe anyone else know the contact information.

I'm planning to go to Makassar March 2009, i want to hear some travel experience from you guys who had already been there before.
Is there also any local dive ops around? because it's too much for me as a native to pay in US$ or even Euro
Are they have special price for local tourist?
