I've seen advertisements that state instructor training qualifies for VA benefits (tuition assistance, etc). I've also heard that everything after OW constitutes education toward a career by gov't standards. Has anyone earned college credit for getting certified or heard of someone that has? If so, how many credits and, if known, where?

Someone compared it to flight school. After your private pilot license, everything else is considered steps toward commercial. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Also, some colleges offer as a PE(or whatever they call it now) electives, for college credit, Open Water classes.
Don't assume it is only large colleges that do this. The small East Texas college that my daughter attends(SFA) offers this.

I've been teaching at a local private university that awards 1 PE credit for scuba.

The course that I ran at a major state university was 4 semester credits in Ocean Engineering. The course I took at UC Berkeley was 4 quarter credits in Interdisciplinary Studies.
