That's why Beer comes in so many flavors;) 2001 Beqa was the #1 dive resort in the world, but if you like Coors, then that's your beer;)

I agree - Beqa was like PBR. :D

Also 2001 was quite some time ago, 9 years! Perhaps it has gone down hill. I did not enjoy the cattle boats, poor lodging, rocking in rough water in a broken boat for 4 hours, and having horrible vis. The algae coated, dirty dipping pool, broken hot water heater, and a birthday cake with the wrong name on it, are just a few examples of their lack of attention to detail. If that resort was ever #1 then they must have had a large marketing campaign to get those votes. Popularity contests mean nothing in my book. There are WAY better places to stay in the same price range. I realize Beqa is popular on this site and I may be going against the grain. Sorry, but I didn't like them at all.

I stayed in Levuka and dive around Ovalau and Wakaya on October of last year and it was really good. We met manta ray and hammerheads in Wakaya, Levuka passage and "Pipeline" were also amazing with many sharks and eagle rays.

Thanks everyone for all the responses. There is so much great information to start with to build our trip. I know we will find something right for us so thanks again. Fortuntely we have some time to plan :) I am really excited to check out the Nai'i as well as some of the other resorts. Thanks again!

To seacreatures & Where2Next: My husband and I are definitely the "try to local brew on tap" kind of people... Always looking for an adventure and something new and different. However, if Miller Lite is the only thing offered, we won't turn it down ;)

Be sure to try the kava!

beer tip... Vuna beer is a fairly new microbrew on the island. It was FANTASTIC - so good! It was served in the min-fridge at Paradise Taveuni and we promptly acquired several cases of it for the rest of our vacation. I did feel a little awkward when the taxi driver informed me the case cost the same as what he made in a week. so I gave him a couple (to take home) - his plan worked! LOL

I would listen to Parrotheaddiver. I was in Fiji in April at Ono Island next to Kadavu...I done better diving in Cozumel!....Then went up to Wananavu but it was diffcult to get out to the Bligh waters from the resort....but when I did it was excellent diving.
