Hi everyone.

I'm heading over to Fiji next march, staying at the Warwick resort on the coral coast. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good dive site/shop/resort/operator where I could head out for a day of diving when I go over there. I have been reading about Beqa is. but not sure where to go from there
Cheers,
Shannon

If you are only going for a day, I'd recommend you schedule it around the days the "Ultimate Shark Encounter" is offered. Aqua-Trek Beqa (Aqua-Trek) is a great operation in Pacific Harbour and I believe they offer the shark dives on Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat.

My experience in Fiji (in the water) was iffy. The biggest dive op there at the time (Fiji Divers) made our daily trip to the dive site a long drawn out affair. Their twin engined boat was down one motor! Be very careful and congnizent of your dive operators! A word to the wise.

Agreed - Aqua-Tek ran a pretty nice operation out of Pacific Harbor - which is about a 45 min (?) drive from the Warwick. My wife and I just got back from a smaller resort nearby, and dove (only one day) with Aqua-Tek. Due to bad timing, we did not do the shark dive - which I was fine with since my wife is a new diver & unsure about how she would feel about that (and I still have some ecological reservations as well) - but there are many nice sites in Beqa (pronounced "Benga") lagoon that Aqua-Tek goes to as well.

I second the warning to beware of any "new operators" - there have apparently been some shady operators in the past, but I can personally vouch that Aqua-Tek ran a good operation the one day we went out with them. Another shop in town - I think it's Adrenaline Fiji or something like that? Also had a good reputation but I have no firsthand knowledge.

The Warwick is a major resort - when you get there the Concierge should be able to help set stuff up.

Yes - now I remember - Beqa Adventure Divers was the other operator that I was told good things about - Adrenaline Fiji was no longer running a boat to Beqa....

If you are staying at the Warwick - Try contacting SPAD SPAD: South Pacific Adventure Divers Fiji
They are the PADI operator based at the Warwick. The Manager of SPAD when I got my Open Water certification there 12 years ago was great, though I can't say what the operation is like today.
