I'm looking for a physician with a good knowledge of diving issues in Charlottesville, VA. Any ideas?

Rich Hagelin

I live in Charlottesville and was recently looking for an ear doctor that had a working knowledge of diving and pressure related issues and couldn't find any thru my LDS. You might try to contact UVA Medical Center and see if there are any doctors on staff that could help. Also there are 2 water rescue teams in Charlottesville that may be able to help as I know that there are EMT or medic trained divers on each team. The teams are Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad (http://www.carsrescue.org/) and Lake Monticello Water Rescue (http://www.lmwaterrescue.org/). Perhaps if you contact either of these groups, they could help.

I know of one but I don't have any direct contact information so you're going to have to play detective.

Barrett Payne is a NAUI instructor that teaches at UVA. One of his assistance instructors is a doctor at the UVA Medical Center. She also owns a dive shop on Ivy Road. It's not much of a shop as it's sole purpose is to support the Barrett's UVA classes.

If you can track down Barrett or find the dive shop you can find the dive doc. Or you could just call DAN. ;-)
