I had a group of 4 of us rent our own pontoon on Crystal River and dove King Spring. They had roped off areas that we were not to dive in. But there was a manatee outside the entrance to King Spring that didn't seem bothered by us at all. He/she even came close to us to check us out. We also snorkeled around 3 sisters spring and one other that I can't remember the name. Another area that we were able to dive was Manatee Springs. It had the best diving with manatees. We did 2 drift dives down the Rainbow River but didn't see any manatees there. But it was a lot of fun and a great dive.
