Crew of the Hammerhead, operated by Florida West SCUBA and Charters conducted an extensive survey of the Venice dive areas yesterday, and we ran our first post blow charter today. We found that conditions are improving, and that many of our regular dive areas are better than we expected. Some spots had viz beter than 6 feet, and a good number were in the 3+ range, some with low silt levels. Our efforts to survey the area paid off today, as our divers made some excellent finds. Many small teeth were found, and there were a good number of 3"+ and larger teeth brought aboard. This weekend seems to be looking good, and we plan to target some fresh areas we located during our survey. Some space is available on our weekend trips, so give us a call if you want to get out. Feel free to drop in and see our reorganized shop, we might even share a secret if you act nice. Dive Safe, Have Fun!!

Winds are coming from the right direction friday afternoon 09-02-11 and really
not as brisk as they have been. Could be a go for the weekend.

So, it looks like it's quite active out there right now. Am I correct in assuming that the wind and waves are stirring up the bottom pretty well and maybe uncovering some fossils?

Crew of Hammerhead (operated by Florida West SCUBA and Charters) will conduct recon off Venice either late this afternoon or early tomorrow morning. As usual this effort is to provided our customers with safe and productive hunting. We will as usual share information re. conditions with the diving community. We expect that bottom has been turned and that there will be viz challenges.

Feel free to post your dive report on the "Dive Report" thread, just no shameless trolling for customers.

Looks like we have another system that's gunna smack us later in the week. Not quite as bad as the last one, but definitely will not help improve viz conditions. Keepin' fingers crossed.

I love what I am seeing on the forecast, but I heard yesterday that viz was loooooww. Hoping to try this weekend. If there are any other reports or predictions for Sat/Sun, please post. Maybe call in sick on Thursday? :)
