have a trip planned for september 27. i'm a bit worried about the quality of the diving with all the tropical storm activity. will visibility be affected due to storms? how will these storms affect my trip...assuming we still get to go! thanks!

Hello from Turks... We dove Sunday and viz was bad... We have not dove since then... We have been stuck in a hotel because there is absolutely nothing to do here when the weather went south... more on that later... any way, they are boarding up the town... The consensus is that Ike is going to tear the place up... I know your trip is a couple of weeks away but I would make other plans... If you are doing a liveaboard I would think you will be ok...

Wherer in TCI are you at?

Obviously, the hurricanes will mess up viz, but by the 27th, if there isn't another hurricane, things could settle down. The biggest concern is damage to the place you are staying and will it be open by the 27th. Looks like Ike is nastiness. A cat 4 is a bad one. Also, the hurricanes can rip up the coral, so there may be damage to the reef--none of that will be known for the next few days, however. Hope you got trip insurance!

I've got trip insurarance and will wait until the end of the week to decide. Should know plenty by then. By the time I get there on the 26 the ocean will be clear, I hope!

Yes, where you will staying would be the main concern. It looks like T & C took the brunt of this storm with the eye wall passing just south of them and damage will probably be severe. I was fortunate enough to have just dove there in June and hope that I am wrong and that everyone there is safe!

Just got off the phone with Club Med, phone lines are down from Turkoise, no news. Gee they never heard of cell phones? Whatever looks like it will be another day or two before word is official.

Yes, it's still hard to get much info but this story does have a little more news. It appears as if Grand Turk may have been hit the hardest but, again, it is still too soon to say for sure.
