Diving Aliwal Shoals and Protea banks in December

Hi all,

am going to take a trip to Moz then SA in December.
I want to make my way to Aliwal Shoals.
I heard also Protea Banks is not to be missed.
Are they close enough to each other to stay in one location and dive both places?
How best to get ether from Durban?
Is it worthwhile to do both?
Will the water be around 20°C in December there?

Yes Protea Banks shouldn't be missed. Umkomaas for Aliwal is about an hour from Durban, Shelly Beach for Protea Banks about another hour beyond that. Have stayed in Umkomaas and just driven over to Shelly Beach on the day(s) I was diving there. I found renting a car was easiest...very reasonable in South Africa.
