Warning, this is not a subject for the weak stomached people.

Hey Doc,

I just returned from a vacation with 10 dives in 2-1/2 days. Prior to the vacation I was taking antibiotics for a sinus infection and finished the 8 day supply after the second night. After my 5th dive on the second day I had a lot of nasty looking mucous to come out of my nose. The same thing happened on the next dive after that everything seemed to be back to normal.

This is probably a stupid question, but does diving put enough pressure on your sinus cavities to force out the gross stuff?

Done that myself.

Worse is a reverse-block (I've had one) - that can get interesting.

I tend to stay away from diving whenever I have sinus anything. I dunno of any health reasons or anything, it's just really messy. mucus everywhere, and sneezing underwater simply sucks.

I am not sure it is wise to go diving while in such condition...

Regardless, salt water is the best remedy for cleaning sinuses... maybe you should have just gone swimming in the sea...

Beware of reverse blocks... can get nasty...
