Does anyone on here use the Diviac online dive log? I am considering it and am using the free version of the account to see what it offers. Would love to get additional info before I commit any money to it.
Thank you for your input.

Few months ago it was fairly easy to get a Diviac Premium account for life for free . All you had to do was to invite two or so of your friends (e-mail addresses) to register a (free) account.
However back then for several months Diviac had a serious problem. The "reports" page where several important things are shown (like SAC rates, dives per place/buddy/month, type of dive etc) was not working.
Over the course of few months I did write several e-mails letting them know and I kept getting a reply that they are aware of the problem and that they are trying to fix it.
Following that, I decided to look for better alternatives and I came across this brilliant piece of software called subsurface. It supports downloading from most (if not all) dive computers, offers online/cloud storage of your logs, and it has a lot of other brilliant features like the ability to use different (open source) deco algorithms with several options (GF etc) on your actual dives or for planning purposes. Did I mention the best? It is totally free!! Give it a try.

Another vote for Subsurface.

It's got a few bugs here and there and I've found the mobile phone app to be almost useless for entering data but the pc version is fantastic.

But they keep updating it, and improving it, and working through the bugs.

And it's free.

I forgot to mention, I did try diviac now and it seems that it works fine. I can also see the premium-for-life for free offer. But given all the advantages of subsurface I really don't see the point of bothering with other options.

The other important feature of Subsurface is that although it has a cloud based storage (also free, thanks Mr. Subsurface developer), you don't need the cloud interface unless you want to download your dives to your cellphone.

So if the program ever becomes unsupported, you can still use it, unlike other web based or subscription based dive logs.

It also has a feature that allows you to export the data so it could be used in another program without re-entering all the dives.

im looking for something that i can use to upload my dive computer to. Have Mares icon hd black air.
Diviac appeared to have plenty of nice log and plan options, with submissions to verify dives, etc. Does subsurface really have better options? I mean ease of use, aesthetics, etc. thank you.

Subsurface is free. I just checked and your Mares HD is supported.

Why not just try it for yourself?

I am sure I will be trying it. Free is always a bonus, but I guess I will have to test drive it to ensure full satisfaction. Thank you for your info.

Since I'm new to dive, I just use whatever my instructor recommends me. Now I'm using Deepblu to log my dives. My instructor can verify my logs easily via mobile phone. One thing I think really cool about it is that the underwater photos match the dive time&depth in the log, which makes the log visually attractive and memorable.

Madeline, you can currently also win up to 10 dive computers on Deepblu if you verify your dive logs with your instructor! Check it out here: https://goo.gl/1h1DBW
All divemaster and instructors that sign up before 31 October will get the chance to win surface marker buoys.
