I've stayed at both and both are good. On balance I'd say I prefer the Divi, mainly because it is in the downttown area and within an easy walking distance to many different restaurants, etc. Buddy's probably has the slightly better shore dive, mainly because it's really two different dives depending if you go north or south. You can't really go north from the Divi because you'd be getting into the restricted port area. Downside to Buddy is that it's very popular with dive club trips and big groups that want to book up the boat trips as soon as they're posted. If you're planning to rent a truck and do mostly shore diving, I'd probably opt for Buddy's. If you're planning to do a boat-dive package and are travelling as a couple or small buddy group, I'd pick Divi.

Incidentally, I'd rate the restaurants at both places (Chibi Chibi and Lion's Den) as among the better on the island. I'd guess the two resorts are about 2 to 3 miles apart.

I prefer Buddy..better house reef dive there and a car is included with your "dive/drive " package. No waiting for a car to be delivered or standing in line at the airport for one.I found the food better at Buddy's and at Kurt's Lions. The staff at Buddys is very friendly and they remember your name.As to groups booking up a boat at Buddys ,what happens is Augusto, the manager, assigns a specific boat and time for a group and that is their boat.If needed he usually adds more boats.
We are returning with a group I am conducting on May 31.

We have stayed at the Divi 3 times and only had dinner at Buddy Dive and visited most all of the other dive resorts. I'm the scuba diver and my wife is a non-diver, beach bunny and Expert shopper. What we like most about Divi is it's within walking distance of town, do not have to rent a car. The Divi Resort is mostly at the same level, no need to go up and down 2-3 flights of stairs to get to the dive boats or dive shop where other resorts sit on the edge of a cliff. Divi's swimming pools are not elevated above the bed rock. Handicap wheelchair dive groups love the Divi.

I have no interest returning to cozumel, But want to make many more trips to Bonaire.

Have a nice drift
