I've got an opportunity to do some diving leaving from the Deerfield Beach area at the end of October. What can I expect as far as current, viz, water temps, etc at this time of the year? I think the plan is to dive mostly around the wrecks. Are they good dives and how easy or challenging are these dives?

The two boats that run out of Deerfield are Diversity and the Lady Go Diver. The usual dives are wrecks or reeks to about 70'. They have fairly long runs to get out to sea so I went with Parrot Island when I still needed a ride offshore.
Diversity and the Lady Go both have their staunch adherents. They all have web sites so you could just call the ops up after checking them out and making your own call.

Finally, for a possibly more challenging dive and a change of scenery, there is Narcosis off exit 74 on I-95:

Let me know if you need help booking. I have a charter running on October 21st. Three tank, includes lunch. We're planning on doing the RSB-1 for the first dive.

Thanks for the links. That gives me a good idea of what the dive sites are like. I've done lots of searching online and I can't seem to find anything that talks about how strong the current usually is at that time of the year or what the avg water temps are. Maybe I'm just not seeing it?

We're going with someone who has a boat there, so that's taken care of. Most of the year they run liveaboard trips to the Bahamas.

Figure 78-79 degrees. I won't be wrong by more than two degrees

Currents vary from day to day (hour to hour really). The max is usually 2 knots northbound to a 1/4 knot southbound.

This buoy accurately reflects Pompano water temps as well:

Thanks! This is just the info I was trying to find.

I've dived from both boats mentioned. Can't go wrong with either one. I personally like the Diversity best because I like Capt. Tony. Great guy and knows the area extremely well.
