Hi! I am conducting a survey for my College dissertation based on divers preferences and motivations. It would be very helpful if you could answer it (won’t take more than 3 min) and after that, I’d be happy to share my findings here. Thanks

(I have also uploaded a picture of how the survey looks like in case someone is hesitant of how legit this is)

As I have received some comments about the survey. I would like to clarify some things:

- When designing the questionnaire, I tried to standardize answers as much as possible so that later divers could be 'categorized' based on their common interests.

- Each diver is different and have different motivations, that's why it is quite hard to fully agree with predetermined answers.

- My survey studies divers' preferences towards dive shops (that's why there are a few questions about it).

- For some of you who may think that some of the answers do not reflect you, there has been included the option 'Others', in which you can specify something that has not been listed.

- I'm a Marketing student who loves diving, but I'm not a professional diver nor a professional market researcher. I'm sure the large majority of people in this forum knows more about diving than me, and that's why I'm open to suggestions and critics.

Said that, thanks everybody for taking the time to answer it. I really appreciate it!

You did not give the option to not hire a guide or not read reviews. I give no credence to reviews, and neither read nor leave them, nor do I hire a tour guide unless the country requires it.

I know, you're right! But this survey is closely related to services provided by dive shops and how divers perceive them.

Then if you want an accurate response you should add those options.

The survey does not reflect a lot of the diving I do, either, but it does reflect some of the diving I do. I was able to make the distinction and answer for the portion of my diving that it reflects. As someone who used to teach survey methodology, I would argue that this one is better than most (which is not saying a lot).

Scubaboard and smaller forums aren't on the list:
Where do you get information from? You can select up to 3 options

It would be impossible to list all the possible options, that's why I included "Others", so that people could include other sources.

Done. Must be targeted to divers like myself since I didn’t find it too off target. To the questions that did not have my answer I was able to select “other” and type in my answer.

As to pre or post arrangements I read as do I make arrangements with the dive op rather than specific to a guide.

My main concern is that I don’t speak British

I gave up when the options for answering "What type of diving do you like?" included "Shallow" and "Deep" along with various categories like Wreck, Cave, etc. I dive to see some objective. If it's a shallow wreck, that's just as good as a deeper wreck. There is too much overlap among the possible responses to answer the question reasonably.
