Although the activity on the Diverlink forum has slowed to nearly non-existent, I used to check the forum every day or so. Eddie Rodes closed the forum either today or last night. I will not get into why I think it declined, it is just a shame.

I began my forum experience with Diverlink. I met many new friends on that forum and had many great times on the board and with members. My first great dive trip was through the Diverlink forum with a '99 Diverlink trip to the Florida Keys. There were friendships that began there and also several marriages. Like I said, fond memories, but it is sad that the forum has declined such that it had to close.

In its day, the Diverlink forum was the premier forum on the web, IMHO. You could find answers to any diving (and many non-diving) questions. It also had a more close knit community than any forum before or since.

I know of two weddings that were a direct result of the forum. I know I have many life long friends I met there.

It is sad to see it go.

They had a lot of firsts on that board... sorry to see it go! Good luck Eddie, where ever you may be!

The Diverlink website is still up and running. It's only the forum that is closed. It is still a great diving resource, although it is now difficult to navigate.

Eddie has posted this information about the forum.

I believe the most used forum was the Diver to Diverlink forum, however, Eddie had many different venues for divers. They have all closed, but like Walter said, the Diverlink.com website is still a good resource.

I'm sorry, I meant the one that criticized him. I know he had issues with PADI, but other than that, I thought everybody liked DiverLink. I sure did.

Pete,

I can't get to the site right now. I'll read it again when I can and get back to you.

My guess would be rec.scuba even though i hardly ever visit there unless i am desperate for a fix :D I have never really read anything bad about them from any of the other forums i frequently visit.
