Don't worry about what your buddy thinks.
For spare pouches i use the Zeagle trim weight poches that they place on the cam bands. On the Escape and Ranger LTD.
What I do is slide the waste band through the pouch where the cam band would normaly go and attach the velcrow part which is at the top of the pouch goes around the shoulder stap. I think the Marker would fit in there nice and to retreave it all you have to do is either unzip the pouch or pull the botom flap that you would normaly pull to let the weight drop. If this is confussing I'll send you a pic. The pouch ends up sitting right under your arm pit out of the way.

Click this link to see the SMB I have, it's the 5' 2'' one in the middle. It does roll up. I would love to see your pic of your pocket hooked on to your harness where you keep your SMB.

NWGratefullDiver, I saw what you said about the Dive Rite Trek Wings and I did think they look a little wide for single tank use. I do dive with a Steel 120 + a 30 cu. ft. pony bottle side mounted onto the 120 tank. Do you still think this would be a bad wing for my tank setup? I did want to be able to bring it with to the tropics when I dive with a smaller single and I wonder if it will be overkill for that. It does have the gusset string around it to keep it's shape and prevent it from "tacoing" around a single tank. Any advice is appreciated. Another dive shop wants to sell me an OMS set up, but it is a lot more expensive.

One thing to consider is wear. I've got about 250 dives on my TransPlate, and the harness straps are showing some fraying where they feed through the plate.

They have started shipping those with ss clips, weight retainer style, to thread behind the plate and hold the straps. After we deburred yours that day Bob I opted for the harness and left my TPII together, but did see one arrive at the shop the other day with the ss clips to prevent the friction on the straps. I second the Venture wing for single set-ups, the travel wing isn't compatible with other plates should you acquire a second on that isn't DR I believe.
