I recently purchased a used DiveRite XT1/XT4 reg set, which I want to go ahead and service before diving. I've ordered the kits from DGX, but the DR service manual archives referenced on the DGX page goes to a broken link.

I've found the XT1 service manual (and others, including the XT2) posted on other archives, but can't seem to find the XT4 service document.

Is this even available? Other threads on this site suggest that, as recently as about a year ago, it hadn't been released, even to dealers. But other folks also observe that the internals are (as a practical matter) the same as the XT2.

Any advice-- either direction to the manual, or confirmation that it's fine to use the XT2 manual, or any other tips or tricks-- would be much appreciated.

@landlockeddivingdoc This is so frustrating! I want to know what I'm buying. I have been doing the same search. I found the Dive Rite XT2 manual, but haven't been able to find manuals for either the XT1 or XT4.

Can you share the XT1 manual?

My gosh, thank you so much! I have been searching and waiting for so long to at least hear some feedback on servicing. Thank you for posting the manuals.

Now that the manuals are out for discussion, it's only fair to comment on the barbaric technique prescribed for service.

Do we use a quick pulse of air from an air gun in an LP port to pop out the diaphragm? No. We use a steel pick to jab through the tough diaphragm and score the inside of the body (and potentially the sealing surface) and then drag it out. If you don't have an air gun, a simple 1/8" dowel will push it out from below after you remove the turret.

Do we carefully invert the reg to allow the pin hat to fall out? No. We use that same steel pick to lift one side and potentially bend the critical centering pin.

We have a special tool designed to slip off the sloping sides of the fifth port, so it scuffs the finish.

And best of all, we drag out the hard duro 90 o-ring from the balance chamber with that same steel pick, instead of using a plastic crochet hook or a double hook pick,

so we can have a nice IP-creep-inducing scratch inside the critical balance chamber.

You gotta love Dive-Rite.
