As I am switching to diving doubles I need to change wing as well and therefore would like to know a bit more about this particular wing as I have found several used ones here in Sweden.

I would be thankful for any comments of users or people that have used this wing. How is it in water etc. A bit sceptical about the gusset thingie but you don't have to use it unless you want to right?

What else is there to know about this wing? How does it actually perform with doubles/singles (I'll dive primarily double 12L steel tanks + in the future deco bottle)

You know any info would be greatly apreciated.

I used to own a Rec wing ... and while it's a pretty nice singles wing, I wouldn't recommend it for the setup you're talking about. It's marketed as a wing that can be used for either singles or doubles ... but from my observation it's not wide enough to accommodate most cylinders for doubles (even after you remove the bungee cord, which you would want to do for doubles). The wing has 51 lbs of lift, which would be adequate except for the fact that part of the wing will get trapped underneath the cylinders, reducing the effective lift capacity.

For the configuration you've specified ... and if you want to stick with Dive Rite products ... I think the Classic wing would be a better choice.

If you are using a 12L tank with a 171mm diameter, the wing will work pretty well. But as indicated above the Rec wing is relatively narrow for a doubles wing. If you are using a backplate, larger diameter tanks cause the wing to get confined between the tank and the backplate limiting it's inflation and lift capacity.

If you are using some type of harness that does not utilize a backplate like a Transpac, then it is not a problem and larger diameter tanks can be accomodated.

The bungees on the wing are routed along the underside of the wing and are generally snag free. I have also never encountered problems with air trapping with the bungees when used with doubles. But again due to how narrow the wing is, the bungees are not really needed with doubles and are I suspect designed more for use when the wing is used with a single tank.

I'd also agree with Bob that the Classic wing makes a better choice for a dedicated doubles wing. I had planned to go with a classic wing for doubles, but switched to a 55lb Halcyon wing as I got a very good deal on one.

The Rec wing is my wing of choice with back-mount doubles with 7.25" diameter (Faber LP 85's) and with PST LP 104's side-mount. (Diving dry)
Before I got my Classic wing I used the Rec wing for back-mount 104's and it was adequate - but close to maxed out.

A Rec wing is under rated for what you want to do. Have a stong look at the Classic, it has excellent bouyancy. That is what I am diving and you will not be disappointed.

I've tried both wings on my doubles (E-8 130's). I prefer the Classic. My rec wing stays on my singles rig.
