Do you believe everything you see on the internet? Looks like it is being played backwards and sped up. Did you find this on Reddit or something? Welcome to SB. Not the best 1st post. Did you actually join just to post this? Go over to intro/greeting and introduce yourself, SB is a cool place, you will learn alot.

Wow... Really? If you look at the bubbles being blown from the guys reg you'll notice it is not in reverse. I am an experienced diver and I shared this because I thought it was a pretty cool video. I figured other divers would enjoy it as well. I am sorry if you don't approve of it. Thanks for the welcome.... I guess.

Didn't examine it that closely, but either direction it is quite the ride. Diving shallow in waves can be extremely dangerous. It would have been worse if the diver was pushed into the reef. You can see that whoever filmed this was down low behind some structure and not affected as much. Just something about the video that makes me wonder if it was staged. And yeah welcome to SB. No need for you to be sorry, no matter what you post here, there will some who do not approve.

Edit: I missed that whole other thread so ignore what I said except for the welcome part.

I still don't like you........ Kidding :)

I love things like this. I save them to use in my OW course. You can TELL someone why they shouldn't dive in the vicinity of rip currents and they'll nod and say "ok" but this little 12 second video makes the point better than any amount of talking and it's something they'll never forget.

Thanks.

Is it a rip, though? I'm sure I spotted a comment on the video clarifying that the diver was being pushed towards the shore (the guy with the camera was apparently hovering just above a steep drop-off). He might have been pulled back by a rip current after that, but I presume he was nowhere near the camera by then. Either way, it's scary as hell.
