ACK!!! :11: school nightmares!

I know that both terms are correct , but I sure get a stern look from someone if I say dove :jump: ;)

bookboarder:
Ok, so I've been wondering this for a little while now... When speaking in past tense about a dive, is it correct to say 'dived'? I've noticed that most experienced divers say they 'dived' a site versus, when I was talking about my last dives, I said I 'dove' the dives.

I hope this makes some sense, and that this is not a completely stupid question, but it's been on my mind for a little while now. ;)
American English dove is a proper past tense but dived is acceptable (its more common in some areas than others.. I am from NYC and dove is more commonly used than dived), British English the proper past tense is dived.

bookboarder:
..snip..
Nor, how I use such *******ized English. :rofl3:

Of course that's still American English, if it was real (British) English it would be *******ised. ;)

Drive, drove, driven ...

Dive, dove, diven ...

Hey, why not????

When I found out that 'dove' is a regionalism in Canada and parts of the USA, I started saying 'dived' even though it sounds awkward to me. I try to be as international as I can when practical :D
