As others have noted, both are correct. The distinction is primarily regional. Dove is widely used in certain regions of the United States but not everywhere. The past participle is, and has always been, dived (we have dived in Cozumel many times) but I have heard "have diven" used jocularly.

Hmmm, I would say, "I have been diving in Cozumel many times." Or perhaps I would say, "I dove Cozumel."

Hmmm, I would more likely say, "I'd have dived, had I brought my gear (with me)."

But truthfully, I'd never say such a thing in any event, inasmuch as, I always have my gear with me. ;)
