In general one does need much. In my years of traveling other than o-rings for valves the two items that I have replaced for others are a fin strap and a HP spool. On my own gear I have needed to replace the HP spool. When ir comes to servicing the HP Spool is probably one of the more neglected parts.

The only items that I have needed from a dive op has been HP port plug and most recently a gasket for a BCD dump valve. Both were due to my brain-fart.

My tools, scuba tool, adjustable wrench, allen keys, etc. have been used mostly to assemble gear and once to repair a sea pump supplying water to fire hoses (yes, the house was on fire - very sad as the house was a complete loss).
