What did you think of the Dive Today show that aired tonight at 10p.m. on OLN?

I think they presented the basic information well and the locations were great. But the hosts reminded me of the PADI training video. I will continue to watch to see what they are going to present next.

Mr Rodales, Dave Taylor, did not do a bad job IMHO.

If I had a gripe is was too many commercials, not enough diving footage, not long enough program, ummm did I leave anything out?

On the bright side --- Bonaire!! Is it time to go yet?

I didn't mean to imply that he did a bad job. I am sure as the hosts get more comfortable on camera that it will turn into a great show.

I liked the way that they covered the equalizing and mask fitting. We are spoiled to be familiar with the folks on the board to help us all out when we have questions. Alot of divers never find this place and don't learn the tips and tricks that I have been exposed to here. I can see this show being a good resource for them if it keeps up like it was tonight.

I liked it for much the same reasons Chad just mentioned. And I especially liked the info/commentary about the different dive sites thy were visiting.

And I agree that there were too many commercials.

But, this is probably OLN's first foray into a regular diving related program. I'd encourage everyone who sees the program and has a view point about what they liked or would change to use their feedback system on their website www.OLNTV.com. Hopefully we can all generate enough positive feedback that they will produce more diving related shows.

I also watched the show on freediving and thought that was very interesting.

I was pleasantly suprised to find the show last night. I am always looking for diving related shows to watch, and usually they are few and far between. I really liked the program a lot. Perhaps it had to many commercials, but I didnt really mind them. I enjoyed the discussions about the typical procedures (i.e. proper weighting, mask fitting, etc.) that we all know by heart, but which the general public likely knows nothing about.

The diving videos at Bonaire combined with the do's & dont's of basic recreational diving should help to provide a conduit between the world of scuba and the general public, as well as an interesting show for certified divers to enjoy.

It did sort of sound like a PADI instructional video, but in a way that is what they are striving for I think. They are trying to introduce diving to the masses, and the only to do that is to describe what diving is and how it is done.

Does anyone know what thier schedule is? Will this be a weekly show....a nightly show?

Update: I checked the OLN website and it airs each Monday at 10pm Eastern time. The next show focuses on shore diving at Bonaire.

I believe they filmed 6 segments (all in Bonaire) to start. They will be shown at 10 PM EST and replayed at 1 AM EST. If you go to OLN's website they tell you what each show will be featuring.

Kudos to Mr Taylor and his crew for introducing people not familiar with diving to what all of us have discovered and fell in love with.

Once again... the schedule was for the US airing, and left me in the lurch.:( Alas, I must wait for the airing to occur in Canada.

I enjoyed the show, and will tune in for the next episode. I was pleased to see that it was focussed on diving as a hobby/sport that can be pursued by anyone with the interest (and water). The free diving show that followed was also interesting.

I enjoyed the show also. Wish it had been an hour. I thought the opening dialogue was a bit "hammy" but it seemed to improve as the show progressed.

Diving Gal--you'll just have to pop down to NetDocs place on Mondays to catch the show!

I found the free diving show to be very interesting.
