I have never been able to find much information about local Padre diving. Is it mostly off shore - rigs?
Thanks!

see South Padre Diving, South Padre Activities, South Padre Snorkel Trips - American Diving and be sure to visit the Captains Log's. There are two reefs, a wide array of wrecks and rigs (Iron Islands). Most divers come for the Texas Clipper these days.

they are spearfishing friendly!

I was fortunate enough to do my open water checkout dives at Capt. Tim's facility. He showed me the commonsense logic of the technical gear configuration. I have over 1000 minutes under the ice this year alone on this set-up! Sometimes when I close my eyes I still see the tornadoes of red snapper's swirling around Pat's Wreck!

Polar Bear recommended :rofl3:

Just did 3 days with American Divng last week. All proceeds/profit was for Wounded Warriors. Great cause. Water temp was 83f, 100'+ viz, flat seas and no current. I had the highest honor of diving with 2 wounded warriors. Thanks Tim, Diane and all the crew of American Diving.

Enjoyed my one charter with them to "Little Sarah", except I lost the bezel to my compass. They are also shell-collector freindly as long as you keep them in a bag and don't mess up the deck. A fine operation.

Memories!
During the unplesantness called the Korean police action I was in USAF training at Harlengen AFB. On several occasions I visited South Padre for spear fishing with the very crude weapons of that era.

That was a long time ago-Pre-NAUI, Pre-PADI, Pre- tre huggers

Lots of Memories!

HAH! finally have you figured out. (Not that it matters or even means anything.)

I remember running out of a grill near the dock with some damn parrot screaming at me while I hot-footed it over to the Diver II with a hamburger that Tim put on his tab. I first cert'ed on that dive, the kid was green at the gills 15 min out. Tim compromised one of his trips to cert the kid in the Laguna Madre before we had to leave South Padre. Nobody finer. Nobody.

O.K., so ya'll plan on being there next year for SPI dive week. I'm looking sooooo forward to it.
