Hi guys. So far I have been enjoying the areas local dive sites. Been to Morrison, then the Destin jetties. Also have been to the Panama City jetties at St. Andrews. I was just curious as to where the other good shore dives could be hiding?

Fred,

pick up a copy of Diving Guide to Underwater Florida by Ned Deloach. It's pretty much got them all covered. It's well worth the $15 bucks. Make sure to get th 11th edition (with the Grouper on the cover) to get the latest version. You can pick it up at Books a Million or Amazon.

also check out The Florida section of Shordiving.com http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/USA_/Florida_/index.htm

Jviehe has some resources on his site http://northfloridadiver.net/

Crystal Pier Pilings in Destin used to be a good dive, but SeaYoda and I dove it in May and it appears the recent years storms have dumped a lot of sand there and reduced them depth from 10-20 feet to 5 to 10 feet.

Sea Yoda and GulfGulper have also dove the bridge pilings of hwy 98 between Destin and Okalossa island. (watch for boats).

Bugman and crew dive the Navarre pier pilings on Okaloosa island also. They also often hit Cypress Springs, which you'd need to rent a canoe to get to.

check out http://www.floridasprings.com/ and http://www.floridasprings.org for more spring info. Check out this URL for Florida Caves also. While it's mostly for those doing cave diving, it's got lots of info on springs also http://www.floridacaves.com/

Over in P'Cola, people dive the Ft Pickens jetties, but right now the park is closed to autos/cars due to storm damage.

that should keep your mouse clicking for a while.

The remains of the old Pensacola Beach pier lay just east of the new pier, its supposed to be a decent beach dive with depths to ~30'.

There are a few wrecks mentioned in the Ned DeLoach book that should be beach accessible, finding might not be that easy and I dunno if they actually sit out of the sand or not at the moment.

Why mess with perfection? When you have Morrison, Cypress, and the Destin jetties, what more could you ask for?

Wouldn't mind having an aircraft carrier within a few hundred feet of the shore so I dont have to pay 150 bucks to go out to it.

Are there any accesses to the beaches they are adjascent to?

There are a few on the bayside of Fort Pickens as well, but they aren't really that accessible right now.

Not sure what the deal is now following the hurricanes...I'll check. I'd be curious to see how the wrecks were affected too...
