Dive sites around Asheville, NC

I visit Asheville, NC frequently and it dawned on me that there might be some diving opportunities in western North Carolina. What type of diving is around that area and where are some favorite spots?

Not many around here to my knowledge. Some lake diving, lake Jocassi in SC is fairly clear and frequented. I've dove in Lake James but murky, not much to see. Recently joined the PDRA to access some quarries for occasional practice, but they're probably 120 miles east of Asheville. Asheville is more suited for motorcycles, JMHO.
