If I want to stay on a different island then that's arranged once I arrive at ROR? I want to spend as much time doing as many of the best sites as possible! If I decide to go to Kosare I'd have to take another flight/boat there?

This is just a quick update on Pohnpei. I've been consulting with the Pohnpei Surf Club and they are going to "officially" open a new dive shop and the target date is July. New gear, new tanks, and they've already hired Stampson, the chief dive guide from the Village.

That's great to hear. Allois refurbished one of the old Phoenix dive boats which is awesome.

Good to hear Stamp is going to be on the team. He's the best dive guide/master in the FSM.

There aren't any islands close to Kosrae. You'd need to take United to get there.

If you do go, make sure you go to Walung Dropoff. There's really not many bad sites in FSM.

If you get to Pohnpei, Pakin Atoll is a must dive. The Western side has a sea mount just off the reef that is spectacular for schooling fish. Both west and east sides are great for diving, and the reef has many cutouts which are like caves but most are not overhead environments. Funny thing about the caves is that the water in them is around 105 degrees and entering one is like a vertical thermocline. You go from 86 degrees to 100+ in seconds.

I have a ton of photos from Everywhere in the FSM as well as Kwajalein if you want to get a feel for what it's like. Send me an email a deveyn at gmail and I'll link you to them.

Thanks everyone for the advice. The diving was pretty amazing in Palau and its a nice change from Thailand. My new favorite creature sighting is the electric clam found in the blue hole! I hope to go back again and check out more dive sites. I should have booked early online bc I almost lost out on a day of diving thinking I could just show up and shop around. My hotel was way out by the airport and no motobike rentals like Asia so it was hard to be independent and get around but now i know and I want to come back! I dove with Fish-n-Fins b/c they were the only shop who picked up their phone when we got to the hotel at 7:30pm. Great Guides. Next time i look for an agent who cna give me the whole package for at least 2 weeks of diving. :-D
