I'll add my 2 cents since I've owned and dove both of em.
1) I felt the DiveRite Transpac2 trapped air. Seemed like one wing or another always had more air than the other. Not a big deal, just twist a bit and the bubble evened out. But never had this quirk w/ the Halcyon.
2) Originally went w/the Transpac since I liked the idea of the snaps and clips to ease getting in and out. But once I got the Halcyon I immediately loved the simplicity of the system. Not to mention that if you wear out a shoulder strap it costs you ~$5.00 in webbing to replace. I'll venture that replacing parts on the DiveRite is a bit more.
3) I thought the plate would be uncomfortable. Not true... its more comfortable and feels like its part of your body.
