Hi folks,

I just installed a Dive Rite pee valve in my drysuit, and I'm having a problem with it.

When I leave it unconnected with the hose tied off to my dry suit suspenders, I get a leak when I'm horizontal, or if I get the valve higher than the end of the hose.

Am I doing something wrong? Is the end of the hose supposed to be capped in some way when the it's not connected?

Thanks,
max

There should be a mushroom, one-way valve in there to prevent water from entering the valve.
At least there is on other brands of pee valves.

Maybe its not seating and/or dirty.

Hi Max,

Had to consult a colleague on this one. Here's his suggestion:

1) It doesn't hurt to cap the tube off when not in use. 2) The duck bill valve in the body of the pee valve can be reseated. Use a hex key to remove the nylon hex in the body which is the retainer for the duck bill valve. If you use the same hex key CAREFULLY, you can turn the valve until it is seated better. You should not see a gap in the end of the valve.

Hope this is helpful. Let us know if you need more assistance or give us a call at 800-495-1046

Am I the only one who giggled at a "leaking" pee valve?

Did the leak get resolved? I am considering adding a pee valve to my suit want to avoid any problems.

I bet it's dirty or not fully seated.

I have a DR pee valve, and it's never leaked ... I installed it myself, and found it pretty simple and straight forward.

I've got it fixed:

The problem was that when I glued the rubber washers onto the suit, I didn't have them aligned well, resulting in an oval shaped hole for the valve to install through.

I peeled off the washer from the inside of the suit. Believe it or not, AquaSeal didn't form that strong a bond and it just came right off.

I reinstalled the valve, with just the outside washer. No more leaks from around the valve.

Based on the advice above about capping the tube off, I ordered a quick-disconnect from McMaster Carr and installed it in the pee valve plumbing. Now, I can be as discreet as I need to be when I'm getting connected to the valve and the quick-disconnect fittings block flow when they're not connected.

Thanks for all your help!
