Dive Rites Trans Pac is very versatile, you can set it up for singles, doubles, side mount or whatever. It is also very comfortable. Your measurements are about the same as mine except I weigh 225. I use the XL Trans Pac with Rec wings for recreational dives, the single bladder gives me 51 lbs of lift. if you want to go caving then get the classic wings.

What is your role in the scuba industry?

Ben

Ben, my role in the scuba industry is that of a customer of both online and LDS type retailers.
I am also someone who has spent ALOT of money on gear and training over the past thirteen years (more money then I like to think about), and purchased tens of thousands of dollars of gear for a fire department team. And as someone who worked in retail business' growing up I think I understand how the LDS needs to inflate prices; Especially more then a primarily online business. I also understand what terms like "overhead" and "price fixing" mean to the different types of retailers in the scuba industry.
I worked in a shop years ago and learned quite a bit about the business, what the markup is and felt I could make an educated statement to try to clarify some of the questions that had been asked about costs and LDS inflated prices.
So next time take a second and think, not everyone who has an idea about retail and the industry as a whole is a secret spy here on the board plugging for a shop or brand.
If you are really curious, just send a PM and I'll tell you every piece of gear I own and where I bought it from.
Any other questions please feel free to ask. But do it in a PM so as not to take the topic any further off track, As I have done and do apoligize for.

The reason i said that i thought the Halcyon was "simpler" is b/c they don't throw a bunch of unnecessary loops, D rings and such on the backplate and wing. If you need that stuff, Halcyons gear is set up so that you can place it where you want it. Also, their Eclipse wing has a "double" bladder (one bladder inside another protective shell). The only double bladder that DR offers is the Dual Rec, which adds a whole other BC hose to the mix (on top of the bungees, which present another "snag" potential). Although it is truly a redundant bladder system, it adds a lot of bells and whistles to an already cluttered system. For uncomplicated, single cylinder diving (with minimal fear of snags), it seems that Halcyon has DR beat for the moment....

The DR transpac only has a minimal number of d rings asame as a Halcyon harness, so thats bnot true.

All DR wings including the travel wing have an inner and outer layer (some are dual bladder IE two inflators needed). A Transpac with travel wing is not more - would do more bulky or snaggable than the halcyon system, before making statements like that in future, you sound a bit programmed to me

I have a wholesale price list that shows some recommended markups over wholesale of around 150-160% on BCs, and up to 300% on masks! :eyebrow:

I haven't done any business with that company yet.

As OBG said Oxy,Halcyon, and DR are all quality but be carefull mixing and matching as from what I know the Halcyon single tank wings wont go on a DR BP (w/o and STA)

Clarification: the Halcyon Pioneer will not work with a Diverite BP. But the Eclipse will.

yea of course , any wing w/ an STA will work (as I said in my post) or a doubles wing.
