I have two of the LED canister lights that have had the 2-pin trailer plug go bad (frayed wires) so I purchased new ones along with new strain reliefs and sealing glands. Figured it would be a very simple fix - Wrong. So I took them each apart, installed the the new glands, soldered and heat shrinked the connections and when I connect them to a battery... Nothing. I have checked them both with a voltmeter and both change resistance as the switch is turned on and off. Is there something I'm missing? I didn't take the light head apart on either. Is it possible there is a fuse in there that may have shorted on both of them?

Thanks for any advice
Steve

it is possible that they shorted when the wires frayed and killed the LED driver. You can try making a bread board type setup with jumpers to jump over the switch and make sure that it works that way. What are the resistance readings when the switch is open and closed? Should be 0ohm and O/L, if there is any real measureable amount of resistance in the switch then you likely won't get the voltage required to the drive for ignition.

Thanks for the reply. The switches are good. The thing I find odd is that they both have the same issue. Just seems strange that both drivers died in the same way. One of the lights the wire broke and it's possible that it shorted, but on the other one it pulled out of the connector and there were no exposed copper conductors. I guess I'll have to send them into Dive Rite.
