I had Zeagle Flathead's and my DIVE buddy has flathead 6's which he is selling. I called Dive Rite about the hurricane's looking indentical to the Beuchat's and they said "although they look alike, the regulators internal parts are different."

They're made in the Beuchat factory.

you need to remember that just because it is made in the same factory does not make it the same reg. Almost all the regs made in the world are made by just a few factories. This happens in manufacturing all the time, the design will be different and the specs will be what the company demands, it doesn't mean that a reg made in one factory is the same as another. Now that being said I have no idea how closely the Beuchat and Dive rites are.

on the surface.

But the thing that makes the Dive-Rites so attractive is that they have (or will) have a service manual and rebuild kits available for their regs and they'll stand behind the product for years. If the Beuchat worked with DR parts then people could just buy those for $405, but they probably don't.

So with all that said who wants one? I work at Divers-Supply and could make some good deals on the regs.

Yeah I have them here in the store too. Let me know if anyone needs one. I am using this as my personal reg now so if anyone wants to one come on down and try it.

So is Apex basically the same thing too. A relabled Beuchat
No....Apeks is Apeks and British....

The old dive rite regs are copies of the apeks ds4 first stage use the same internal parts as for the new dv regs they are the same reg as the beuchat we had them apart at the my frends dive shop and he has had them past 250feet they are at par with the atomic m1 and blow away anything apeks has

They are on my "try out" list. I am currently looking to upgrade my Frankenregs some time early 2007. :D
dont give up on the frankenregs,i dont want to be the only one diving them.:D

Was he breathing mix or air? If you say air then I have zero trust in that "intoxicated" judgement. If you say mix, then I can take an unbalanced piston first stage at those depths and have great breathing performance. As far as "blowing away" anything that Apeks has, that would be pretty tough to agree with. Especially seeing how any of their models can demonstrate WOB scores at or below 1.2j/l at depths down to 198' and with a demand of more than 60lpm flowing through them.

I'm sure that they are very good regs, but they don't have any "revolutionary" features that would place them at the top of the pedestal. At least Atomic does produce regs that are of exceptional construction and design.

There are many regs on the market that meet USN Class A standards. Class A standards are based on what a young, excellent condition diver can cardiovascularly accomplish under conditions comparable to what a sprinter would be doing while running the 400m dash. I think that gas flow rates of that level should fit the bill for the world's hardiest divers.
