DIVE RITE Classic wing question

Anyone have anything bad to say about the Dive Rite classic wing (60 lbs). An LDS has the blue classic wing for a pretty good deal - and a package with a Dive Rite hog harness and SS BP for what seems to be a deal.



I wasnt really looking for a BP/W setup - but maybe I will keep my Ranger for when I dive singles and pick this set up for doubles.

Not much on my part, really. I've had mine for around 150 dives and it's done pretty good so far and still looks pretty good -- bright red.

Initially I had a minor issue with the opv/dump valve. The string was too thin. Every now and then when you pulled the string the soft seat would catch on one of the ridges around the orifice and prevent the creation of a seal. This was fixed by replacing the thin chord with a thicker one. The thicker chord prevented less lateral movement when pulling on it. The movement of the seat was now kept more in line with the orifice. Since using the thicker string, I've never had any more valve failures to seal.

Dive Rite has been making wings for just about longer than anyone in the business. And while we do not sell dive rite products (diff markets) my first Dive Rite Classic wing I got in 1989 lasted me over 1000 dives. If it's a good deal then get it. The blue is pretty nice looking too.

It's way too big for a single tank, but it would be a perfectly acceptable doubles wing, even big for some doubles. If you're thinking of a single tank wing the only dive rite I would even consider is the travel wing. The new travel wings are narrower than the old ones and they look pretty nice to me. Dive rite has excellent customer service, too.

Have you seen the physical difference between your 44lb and the 60lb.

Are you going ballooning?

My ranger handles double hundreds and bottles but I wear lots of neoprene.

The suit dry weighs 14.5lbs

And a neoprene drysuit.
And a bit of self indulgence.

I've been happy with my Dive Rite wings, no problems whatsoever.

Have had the exact setup you're looking at for at least 15 years without an issue except in all black. Worked fine diving HP 120's with two slung Al80's and also does great with HP 100's.

Yes I see that's what you meant. It's probably fine for double 100s. I use a rec wing with double 72s and have used it with double AL80s. I personally wouldn't want anything bigger. But, maybe the classic is only marginally bigger and you should give it a try.
