Here's a quick report of the conditions at Orange Grove Sink (part of Peacock Springs) for yesterday.
We got in the water at around 3:45 p.m. The top of the spring had a nice layer of duckweed giving the whole spring a greenish tint from underwater. It was very cool. Water temp was around 71 degrees (and MUCH warmer that standing outside!!)
Visibility was pretty good, it had not been silted up too much. I would say visibility was 30-40 ft.
We dove the cavern and maxed out our depth at around 95 ft. This was my first time here and it was really awesome, the fallen trees in the spring make for a very cool dive. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has not dove there. It is the only place in Peacock Springs that allows OW divers. I got to do the cavern because I was with two instructors taking me on a guided cavern dive. No lights are allowed unless you are cavern certified or above. A very cool dive you should check out!
