Well I made it out to Navarre, right on schedule this morning, but wow there was a crowd. Looked like 2 classes getting suited up (maybe 10+ divers), and 2 pairs of spear fisherman, and a couple of others. I scrambled to get ready and in the water before the rest of the divers did and hit the water at 0927. The viz on the swim out was about 20 feet under the pier and seemed to increase and decrease slightly as I swam out. At the break I made my right hand turn and found the rubble right where I had left it. The viz around the rubble wasn't that great again as the larger fish and rays were stirring it up pretty good. I saw some nice schools of Red Snapper, some AJ's, and quite a few Grouper as well as Schools of Spades and yellow tails. I also saw one puffer, and two or three angels, as well as Octopus and rays. What was funny was I got out of the water after 87 minutes and one diver said did you see anything? I told him what I had seen, and he said.....Where? He hadn't seen anything except moon jellies! I mean open your eyes dude!!!!! Viz was best under the pier and deeper maybe to 25 feet of viz at the end of the pier (25feet deep). Around the rubble things got bad at times 5 feet or so as the other divers swam around. After dive one I waited for the MBT class to exit and then made a second dive.... Same great stuff second time around! Temp was a solid 77 degrees most of the dive at depth. All in all 2 nice dives. I got some pics and videos from the second dive..... I'll post 'em in a few. :D

Spear fishermen? Off the beach in Florida?

I might change our location from Alabama to Navarre tomorrow morning..... Uhhhhmmmmmm.... :) 25 Foot Viz sounds great!!!! and for a first salt water of some in our group that would be NICE!

Dieing to see the pix! and your Videos are ALWAYS a hit as well! I'm a fan of your posts.

There are always those few people who haven't read the rules and are just waiting for that huge FWCC fine.

I got to play around with a nice sized, but camera shy Octopus. I never got any really good pictures but everytime I'd leave and come back he'd be out until I got my camera ready. So I decided to put my camera down and leave the area with the video running. I should have stayed away longer... But there is a lot to be said for swimming away from over a grand in camera gear.... I got nervous and returned just as he was coming back out...... Take a look the video is about 3 minutes long

Well I have to get ready to head back to the beach for a night dive at Navarre, looks like the conditions will be excellent! Sorry Hetland, I know that's got to be a knife right in the heart!

LOL, it hurts, but it's good to see that conditions are improving, and that you had good dives. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you guys have even better dives tonight.

Good idea to set the camera down. I don't know if I could do it either. Perhaps if I left my strobe on shore I could stomach it....
