I never did like Lannon that much because it's cold and dark. That made it the perfect choice for my last required dive for NAUI ASD - the 'low viz' dive!

Entered from the rocks at the southeast end about 7:45 PM. Water temp dropped to 43Suunto at 10' depth, viz was about 5'. Found the picnic tables right where they belong at 23', lost contact with the instructor/buddy and surfaced after searching/waiting for 1 minute. He was already on the surface - turns out he was no more than 15' away the whole time ...

Descended again and continued our plan - follow the wall counter clockwise at 30', then traverse the pond heading 150 until we reach the other side. Viz at that depth was less than 2' - had to maintain constant hand contact with the wall to follow it and constant light contact with buddy. Turned southeast at 1000 psi and headed across the black void - very creepy but very cool. I never noticed before that my SK7 compass had a glow-in-the-dark rose!

Found the wall at the other side and surfaced right where I expected to, a little east of the fishing platform. The sun was just setting and it was completely quiet except for a couple walking their golden retrievers.

Mission accomplished. Good dive!

Sounds like using a buddy line would have made things easier. I haven't been to Lannon in quite awhile myself. Not much to bring me back I guess. Well, when you get out on the S.S. Moneysavr I'm sure the viz will be much better. We're spoiled on lake Michigan where a "bad" day the viz is twenty feet. Saturday on the Northerner we had 100+.
