Dove with Outer Banks Diving in Hatteras on Sat Nov 12. I must say that Johnie and Amy's charters are first class. This is my second dive with them. I usually dive in Va Beach, but I am going to start driving down more. The 3 hour drive is worth having warm water with temps in the 70's and vis in the 70 foot range.

Although the air temperature got a little cool, the water temp was 69 at the top and 75 at the bottom. Both dives were on the Proteus. Visibility was about 70 feet or more. I have never seen so many sharks and turtles before. There had to be at least 30 sand tiger sharks swimming around the wreck. My dive buddy and I, as well as just about everyone else, found sharks teeth. Johnie, as usual, came up with some china.

I am fascinated with diving the Proteus. It seems to be more awesome everytime I dive it. Does anybody have any good findsw

They said they will be chartering into December if any one is interested. Water temps will stay warm thru December.

Thanks for the report. I may have to squeeze in another trip before the end of the year

Thanks for the report Gary. I may be visiting my ex-inlaws a few days after Christmas with the kiddos. If so, I just might could plan a day of diving. They live in Suffolk, Va. If I can do it I'll be sure and PM you to see if you could join me. I'd much rather dive with someone I know than a bunch of strangers.

This time no cluster shore dive!! :D

I would love to dive with you again. Did you ever get the PM I sent you. I replied to your's, but I never heard back. We really need to get together some more next year. I enjoyed diving with you guys. You were a lot of fun. We should try and get a dive on the Bayou Runner with Johnie at Outer Banks Diving in Hatteras. Have you dove the Proteus? In the spring, I am going to get A cottage in Hatteras for a week end and You guys could stay there and dive with us in Hatteras.

Shore dives are still fun, that was just a bad day. The girls out did guys that day. Now the guys that read this will be upset. I hope to have a Zodiac next year that we can use instead of swimming out to the wrecks. We need to do the Oriental this yeat. It is about 4 miles past Oregon Inlet. The boiler sticks out of the water. Rough currents though, we definatly would need a small inflatable.
Keep in touch.

I did get the PM and thought I replied - maybe I didn't. I'm just going to say I replied and it is all Scubaboard's fault cause they lost it. :D

Getting together more often next year for diving sounds great. We have a bigger group now that is always wanting to dive so I don't think we'd have a problem chartering a boat. Definitely keep it in mind when you start planning some dives next year.

The Proteus dive of yours sounded awesome and I'd love to give that a try.
