JohnL and I met up for 2 dives at Wetherill in RI this morning. The water was calm and the wind coming from the north. Gidds was working surface support for a bit and getting in as many long hose, x-shorts and can light jokes as possible....:10:
Dive 1 - did the cove to cove dive. Starting at the left cove, working our way around and coming out at the boat ramp. Vis was really decent (for RI)! varying from 5-10' in the coves to anywhere from 10-30' depending on depth at the point. Saw some skate, lots of starfish, small fish, and FINALLY got my first keeper lobster in RI! I had my arm in up to my shoulder for this one......mmmmm he tasted good!
Max depth 34' @ 43min.
Dive 2 - entered in right cove and finned out toward the goat path. Dropped down a little before reaching the beach and managed a great dive! Saw another skate, flounder, 2 decent size tautog, a tire, a fishing lure(I bagged it) and got another lobster. I swear that bug tried to rip my mask off cause after the struggle my mask would not stop leaking! Well we managed to get around the point and almost to the swim-through when we had to turn back. Vis was again anywhere from 5-20', opening up outside the cove.
Max depth 48' @ 58min.
Perfect way to spend Easter morning!
