A very nice day on the beach today, not a 30 mph wind to buck on the long walk to the jetties like last Monday. The walk was almost pleasant. Great viz today for the jetties, about 20 - 30 feet. Saw a lot of the usual critters, belted sandfish, blennys, slippery dicks, stone crabs. Huge schools of very small fish fry, don't know what the were but it was fun to watch them swim and dart around like a big silver cloud. We saw a couple of large, about 12" across the mantle, jellyfish. My dive buddy told me they are australian jellies. The were caught in the jetty rocks and crabs were having a little picnic. I freed them both and, i think I cuold see one smile as it floated off. The had quite a bit of mass to them, not jelly like at all. I would guess about 2 pounds.
The current was not bad at all today. About half way through the dive, the current stopped as if someone had turned off the switch. All the fish came out of the rocks as if to stretch there legs before the current kicked in again. I looked at my watch, it was 46 min. prior to the listed high tide on the tide tables. Has anyone else noticed this, a 46 min. lead time on high and low tides when compared tothe charts?
