Quite a few of us went up to Bear River Reservior this past weekend for some camping and Altitude diving. In addition to the altitude dives I finished up my Rescue diver certification. Woohoo!

The weather was great. Clear skies and highs in the Mid 90's. Surface temperature was 73 degrees. There were two thermoclines I noticed during the dives. A minor one at 30ish feet and a steep drop down to 51 degrees at 45 feet. Make sure to wear a hood and gloves if you go that deep there. Vis was great....when people weren't kicking up the silt on the bottom. The vis ranged from 5-30 feet with the average being around 15.

Entry was easy. There is a staircase right in front of the store at the Bear river Resort which leads down to a mostly sandy beach. Most the dives took place here. We did do a night dive on Saturday night. I'd have to say this was one of my favorite night dives. As we went down our lights lit up the bottom where we saw hundreds of crawdads crawling across the bottom. We made sure to fill up part of my game bag for a late night snack ;)

All in all, for inland diving this was a good site. You might even find some treasures like a couple of my dive buddies. One found some sunglasses and the other found a new fishing rod and reel!
