After a 2 hour drive to the Summit shopping center to allow spousal unit to shop and meet up with number one son, I met Bamamedic2.0 around 1030 at ABWA. After a quick exchange of greetings, we registered and proceeded to gear up. Shortly into the gear up process, I discovered that I had left my computer at home. Since it was a very busy day, no extra sets of regs/computers were available to rent. Wayne came to my rescue and fixed me up with an SPG and off I went. Bamamedic2.0 and I agreed to use her depth to calculate my dives. Final gear up and double check in the parking lot and off we went to the west end dive platforms. Into the water for final gear assembly and dive plan review, we submerged under darkening skies and a light sprinkle. We made a brief stop at the training platform and checked status. With an OK we headed toward the fire truck and camper. We hugged the side of the quarry in between 40' and 50'. Temps were not bad and I was comfy in my 3mil suit with gloves and boots. We saw numerous small fry and some decent sized bass as we cruised over the Brim beds on our way to the bridge rubble. Made the turn at rubble and proceeded back. At about 800 psi, we made a safety stop and surfaced about one bouy short of our entry point. During a non-eventful surface swim, we planned the next dive while wondering if the darkening skies would bring more than just rain. We hit about 51' for a dive lasting 35 mins (Yeah I still suck air like a Hoover). Surface interval palnned was about 60 mins. We spent the time chatting with Bamamedic2.0 and her boyfriend under a light sprinkle. About 30 mins into the SI, things got worse and thunder was all around us. At the 1 hour mark, the weather was not going to break so we called the second dive and packed our gear. It was a great time and I wish we could have gotten another dive in. Blessings once again to Wayne and the great staff at ABWA! The new dome building is coming along just great.
