Had a good day Friday on FLounder Pounder. Dove at the Brewsters. Matt anchored on a great rock formation that he knew. Big cracks and crevasses, ledges and multi colored rock. Very pretty dive site. The vis wasn't that great. To be honest, it sucked. Maybe 10 feet at best. Too bad cause I would have like to see the area more. Second dive was right alongside one of the islands on the way back, the one they want to put the LNG facility on.

(IMHO, anyone who thinks about putting any sort of plant for something as dangerous as explosive gasses in an exposed location like that is nuts. It's the open ocean, and the threat from continued exposure is far more real than the threat from terrorists. /rant)

Dive two was nice, slightly better vis and scenic on the wall. Minimal surge, next to no current.

Heres the scoop on Flounder Pounder.
Pro's.
Nice guy, helpful and accomodating
Comfortable, dry boat.
Easy roll off.
Captain knows the area well.
Price is right at $55.
Nice telephone pole ladder.

Con's.
Long walk down the pier to the boat. Long, as in hike past 60 (I counted) boats, long.
There in NO easy way to get to Hingham. Nice town, but geez, are we there yet?
Needs a grab bar on the transom for climbing back aboard. (Capt say's ones coming.)

Looks good! Too bad conditions werent better. I cant get myself motivated to get out this weekend.....

Thanks for the report. I think I'll give him a try this summer. Hingham may be slightly out of the way, but it's still closer to my house than Cape Ann/Boston.

Paul,

I'm not sure which way you chose to get to Hingham, but here's the easiest way (IMNSHO) to get to Shipyard Drive from Rt 3. I drove this way last week on a roundabout trip back from South Shore Divers. It's about 12 minutes.

Matt:

I grew up in the metropolitan city of Quincy by the Sea and then moved to the rustic farming community of Norton when I got meself hitched. I take it you live in Quincy now.

Changing the subject, did you go to the u-boat on Sat as planned? My trip to the Poling on Sunday was cancelled due to weather, so I'm looking to reschedule.

PS By the way, Jack, that's one impressive cut and paste with that detailed map. I am envious of your computer skills.

Hey Yak,
Thanks. Where were you when we were getting off the Hingham/Rockland Rt 228 exit off of Rt 3? We found our way there eventually, the construction was a bitc#. Next time I'll probably just go Rt 3a the whole way, may be longer but a straight shot. But as I said, it was a nice dive despite the bad weather and poor vis. I'll go out with him again.
