11 of us met at Cape Ann Divers on Saturday to do a polar bear plunge dive (at least for those without drysuits). Two of us were diving dry. We went to Pebble Beach, surface conditions were beautiful. Vis was crap from last weekend's storm, we had maybe 5-8' of vis for the entire dive. My buddy and I (we were the two lucky drysuit divers) did a 50 minutes dive to a max depth of 24'. All we saw were a couple hermit crabs and starfish. Post dive was spent in a hot tub at an area hotel.
My buddy and I met up again Sunday and dove Folly Cove. Water was choppy outside the cove, and a little bumpy inside, but very welcoming - standing at our car, we could see the bottom of the cove. We dove the left side and did a 54 minute dive to a max depth of 39'. Vis was much better here ~20', and the cove was teeming with life. We saw a lot of sand dollars and starfish as well as a skate, northern cerianthids everywhere and two leafy paddle worms. I was trying to find the northern red anemone, but couldn't find it's little hole (reefseal, you need to teach me your ways of ALWAYS finding it!).
All in all, a great couple of dives. I can't wait to get back in the water.
