TA = Tripadvisor . You have a thread there too & he answered there.

There are only a few shops who pick up down town (Aldora, Blue XT Sea & Aqua Safari) that I know of & Tres Pelicanos arranges transportation to the marina but otherwise it's most likely going to be up to you to get to the boat or a hotel pier a bit south of that area. Could get a bit expensive using Taxi's but not killer expensive. Also most (in general) don't take non divers along so ask specifically if that's important. (Living Underwater may be another who picks up down town but not sure about that).

Deep Blue leaves from a downtown dock too. They leave a little later than others. Before the time change they were leaving at 9am. If you're staying downtown, you have plenty of time to eat breakfast and get on their boat. Makes for a very relaxing day. No rush. No taxi. No need to get to the marina.

The folks whose AirBnB we are staying at may be able to drive me to the shops at least one or 2 of the days.... so that's helpful.

I really am leaning towards going with Dive With Alison

That's nice. I'll try to remember that. Nothing worse than getting up way too early just to have breakfast & still have time to get ready & to the boat or pick up location.

We were in your position this time last year. We went with Blue XT Sea and could not have been happier. Christi was excellent about taking the time to answer all of our newbie questions. Her staff are real pros too! We had a private DM and I highly recommend that if this is your first trip like this.

We recently completed our second trip with Blue XT Sea. We had a great time again. On this trip though, I ate something bad and had to miss a dive day. Christi went above and beyond and made a doctor's appointment for me. The next day I was good as new. Now that's great service from your dive op.:thumb: We will be diving with them next time.

Atta Grrl Christi!

+1 for Blue XT. My wife's first ocean dives were with them several years back and we could not have asked for better service and care. I think all the ops cited in your and other posts will also take good care of you as a new diver. Although not required, it might be a good idea to hire a private DM for your first two tank dive or so to give you that extra attention and help that you might want on your first ocean dives, especially in a drift dive environment. You are going to love Coz.

We did our referral with Tres Pelicanos in August and dove the rest of the week with them. They were great for new divers! They provided transportation to and from the marina as well.
